In a move to build partnerships with third-party developers, Yahoo on Thursday introduced a new open Web services platform. Yahoo Search BOSS (Build Your Own Search Service) gives outside developers unprecedented access to Yahoo's search technology, including the ability to re-rank and control the presentation of results.

Yahoo has launched its next-generation mobile search service and also appears determined to get a jump on competitors by making it readily available to third-party developers. Yahoo's oneSearch 2.0 will deliver a number of improvements that will allow users to perform quicker, more comprehensive searches through text and voice-based activation.
